GLOBAL EXPANSION OF THE STARTUPS


To be "global" a company must extend its reach to all major continents across the globe, not just one or two other countries. Corporations use a number of tactics to achieve their global expansion plans, including exporting goods, licensing, forming strategic partnerships, acquiring businesses and building new facilities in multiple countries.



Zomato Global Expansion:-

Zomato launched the first market outside of India in Dubai on 1st September 2012. In July 2014, it acquired Menu Mania in New Zealand for a million dollars.  Right now it is operating in 36 countries and in 10000 cities having 1.2 million popular restaurants with 80million foodies every month. It is available in 10 different languages and has 10 million reviews with 18 million bookmarks.

OYO Global Expansion:-

A bulk of OYO’s global expansion has happened in the past 18 months. Last month OYO said it was set to acquire Amsterdam-based @Leisure Group, a vacation rental company which manages holiday homes, for nearly €369 million ($416 million), one of the biggest acquisitions by an Indian startup. Its China business is already more than double the India business. In China, OYO is present across 290+ cities with 320,000 exclusive rooms and over 7,000 buildings/ properties. Besides China, OYO is present in the U.K., Indonesia, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, the Philippines, the U.A.E., and Japan 

Ola Global Expansion:-

Ola provides its services in India, Australia, New Zealand and the UK serving more than 250 cities. The Ola app offers mobility solutions by connecting customers to drivers and a wide range of vehicles enabling transparency and convenience for hundreds of millions of consumers and over 1.5 million driver-partners. Ola may be preparing to hit pause on its international market expansion Ola was supposed to expand to the Netherlands, Kenya, Dubai, Israel, and Brazil.

Fantasy sports platform Dream11has entered into a five-year exclusive partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC Dream11 partnership will provide the best, most trusted fantasy cricket experience to billions of fans globally,” The platform has 45 million users, mainly Indians.

INTERNET PENETRATION IN INDIA

Internet penetration in the urban region is not an accurate marker of the digital progress of India as the utility of the internet — application of the internet for daily life and trade activities — is very different between urban and rural populations. As pointed out above, 81.32% of the total population has access to the internet, which translates into approximately 365 Mn of the 450 Mn urban inhabitants of India. In contrast, the figures in rural India are quite the reverse. A mere 21.46% rural inhabitants — or 194 Mn of 904 Mn people — had access to the internet as of 2018.
